The year 2010 will doubtless be a turning point for photovoltaics in the Czech Republic. The government has already approved the “solar” amendment to the act on RES, according to which the regulator will be authorised to radically reduce buyout prices for electricity where profitability is too high. The amendment to the act will reach the parliament in the period before elections, and it is questionable whether it will be passed at least in the proposed form. So what can we expect in 2010? For investors, it will be a race against time. How will the state, regulatory authority and distribution companies behave in this situation? Who will manage to launch operation of their power plant and who won’t? Will banks be willing to continue financing or will conditions become more stringent? What will the amendment be like in the end, and how much will support of buyout prices actually decline after its passing? To what extent will the entire sector’s development slow down? What about new technologies – can we expect a further reduction of investment costs? These and other issues will be on the agenda of the Solar energy in the CR 2010 conference.
