Water is one of the most valuable natural resources, however it is little realized how rare it is. Towards sustainable use of water resources, proper care of land, landscape and biodiversity, prevention and flood control in terms of climate change are the topics for discussion at the 2nd International Conference "Water in the Landscape - Quality management and sustainable use of water resources".
Presentations of Czech and foreign experts will be divided thematically into six blocks and include both practical knowledge and experience in operating water infrastructure, as well as the latest trends in social affairs and policy of the Czech Republic and the European Union.
The main themes of the conference are devoted to serious problems of pollution of watercourses and water bodies from spot and diffuse sources, the role of landscape planning and programs for water and land management, including financial issues.
Extremely important issue is the management of surface water reservoirs in relation to hydrology and use of the watersheds, including the potential risk of eutrophication of the raw water stored for drinking purposes.
Water supply is directly related to the rural landscape and activities of local residents in the watershed. Therefore, the topics will also include creation of partnerships for implementation of project planning for the sustainable use of water resources and the role of river basin managers, regions and municipalities.
In the panel discussion on the second day, 5 panelists will refer to the key issues of the Conference. Common consensus will be sought in order to provide the appropriate suggestions for political decisions and procedures of the executive government.
We invite everyone interested in the issue of Water and the Landscape and we believe that presentations, discussion panel and especially direct meetings and information exchange among the participants will contribute to expanding the range of expertise and professional qualification. Last, but not least, organiser of the Conference is to obtain partners for the implementation of plans for the sustainable use of water resources Zelivka.
