Global economy is slowly recovering after critical year 2009 and governments begin to count damage. By far victory can´t be announced - the unemployment still growths, markets are nervous and national budgets’ deficits have risen to horrifying extent whereas necessary reforms are still far away. Economists are afraid of long recession and of return of the crisis as they speak about W-curve projection. In Slovak Republic, all these threats are clearly present.
As the result of constrained public earnings, massive cuts of planned or commenced infrastructure projects were executed: Investments into new roads are decreasing and the same happens in the field of sport, education or health care. PPP projects represent one of the best ways how to stimulate ailing economy. Although many politicians still regard PPP only as the way for building new infrastructure, historical chance to enforce partnership of public and private sector is coming.
Are we going to make the best of this chance? Will PPP be the way out of crisis? What is the future of PPP projects considering economic uncertainty and political turbulences? What are new trends in the PPP sector? Sport, health service, power industry, renewable resources, waste management...? How are regional projects developing? Can we find an inspiration with experienced neighbours? Will PPP projects represent remedy for chronic public budget deficits or just useless spending obligation in the future?
You will find answers to these questions and lot more in 5th annual Slovak PPP FORUM .
We look forward to seeing you there.
